WICKMAN LAUNCH THEIR NEW CNC MULTISPINDLE LATHE

With the continued investment in the research and development of the Wickman product we are pleased to introduce you to the NEW Wickman 8-44 11 Axis CNC multispindle, with the latest FANUC CNC 30I Control System, which was recently installed in the UK.

Key benefits Being:

• Simple ISO programming.
• Retain the ruggedness of the Wickman machine for high metal removal where required to maintain cycle times.
• The CNC slides assist in managing swarf problems when machining difficult materials.
• The machine software allows Wickman setters with no CNC experience to adapt to the machine quickly.
• Standard ISO carbide tooling is used reducing expensive tooling costs.
• More machine flexibility as a standard machine.
• Less set up times.
• High-pressure coolant from 25 to 105 bar for U drill drilling.
• Tool monitoring system for end working tools that feed to the control system.
• Easy tool offset adjustments whilst machine is in operation using the multi path system

The new generation machine is controlled by the latest generation of Fanuc controls being the 30 I. Wickman use 7 of the paths within the system to control each of the of the 11 axes of CNC slides which are as follows.

Path 1 controls the speed feed and all necessary M codes for the machine to Function.

Path 2 Controls X Z Cross slide in pos 1

Path 3 Controls W (Z) axes which is the Centre Block.

Path 4 Controls the Independent Slide position 5, which is W (Z) axes and bolted on the independent, is a U (X) axe. Which can be used as two axes or can be removed for other applications if required.

Path 4 Controls the Independent Slide position 5, which is W (Z) axes and bolted on the independent, is a U (X) axe. Which can be used as two axes or can be removed for other applications if required.

Path 5 Controls X Z cross slide in position 5

Path 6 Controls the Independent Slide position 6, which is W (Z) axes and bolted on the independent, is a U (X) axe. Which can be used as two axes or can be removed for other applications if required.

Path 7 Controls X Z cross slide in position 6.

This system adopted in controlling the machine by using this method, allows the machine to be very user friendly, when writing programmes and setting the machine. When the machine cycle start is depressed our specialised software combines all the paths to be synchronised as one programme.

The machine spindles are powered by a Fanuc 18 KW motor, which can be programmed to a maximum 2000RPM.

WICKMAN GOLF DAY 2011

After the success of Wickman Golf Day 2010, we have decided to start organizing a littler earlier to hopefully allow those who missed out on the opportunity, time to join us.
